For appointment to a Program Aide (SG-13), you must have:

  • Three years of experience performing clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional work in an office environment.

Competitive Minimum Qualifications:

You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

For 70.1 transfer to a Program Aide (SG-13), you must have one year of permanent competitive, or 55-b/55-c service in an approved title for transfer allocated to an SG-11 or above.

Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades or one M-grade.

Duties

Clerical Support
  • Work in a team and with customers in a professional and effective manner.
  • Act as the 1099 purchasing agent for the Federal Reporting Unit.
  • Act as the point of contact for OSC Helpdesk Inquiries.
  • Prepare written correspondence to internal and external customers.
  • Answer phone line and aid in management of group business mailboxes, ensuring a timeliness response to customer inquiries.
  • Provide backup coverage for groups as needed.
  • Assist teams in compiling data or drafting documents related to vendor policies and procedures.
  • Data entry and information tracking for various responsibilities within the teams.
  • Organize information for regular and ad-hoc meetings with both internal and external customers.
  • Create and maintain multiple spreadsheets for various activities.
  • Maintain files, make copies, scan, print and other office support activities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as required.
Technical Assistance
  • Perform extensive research with a strong focus on details.
  • Draft correspondence based upon detailed analysis and research.
  • Understand and apply regulations and policies that govern vendor processes.
  • Assist in the tracking, preparation, and evaluation of incidents related to system performance and/or vendor communication and training.
  • Test system improvements and report findings to supervisor.

Telecommuting

The Office of the New York State Comptroller supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency’s mission and operational needs. Generally, new employees will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employee’s primary residence location, duties, and work performance are aligned with telecommuting and operational needs they may be allowed to do so. Generally, employees may telecommute up to 5 days per pay period but may be approved to telecommute less.
